Mautz Tavern Front Window |
The End of an Era
The property that once housed the Mautz Tavern has officially changed owners as of today. For the first time since the beginning of the 20th century, that portion of land no longer belongs in the Mautz family.
Mary Ann had expressed concern that it would be the end of the Mautz Family in East Bristol once she was gone. (Note to the readers: I actually do live in East Bristol and have lived in the Town of Bristol since 1997, but still, I understood what she meant).
It is a bittersweet day, but there are still lots of pictures, artifacts, and memories to share. I have a lot of material still in my possession and as I continue to be inspired, you will see me updating this blog. So the Mautz presence still lives on, virtually from East Bristol.
Cheers,
Staci (Mautz) Willems

Kind of sad to know Mautz Tavern no longer exists in East Bristol. Staci, I hope you continue to be inspired to write memories about Mautz Tavern!
ReplyDeleteInteresting history about the tavern. I grew up next door. I remember how cool it was during the winter.all the snowmobilers. It's kinda sad day. Yesterday, heard the sound of squeaky tracks and the crunching of wood and glass being torn apart. Yes, it's official. The tavern has been partially demolished. I'm sure they will finish the job within the next few days. Would have been nice to had one last look inside.
ReplyDeleteIt's official. 2days ago Mautz's tavern has been torn down. They filled in the basement and put day marsh hay. The only building left it the shed by the road.
